New CSS workshop coming in May 2024

I’m delighted to share that I’m going to be joining my good friends at Smashing to deliver a new workshop: Scalable CSS Masterclass.

CSS doesn’t scale right? I can tell you that’s not true. How do I know?

Well, over the last 15 years or so, I’ve written and consulted on both small CSS codebases and huge, complex codebases for some of the largest organisations in the world, such as Google, Harley-Davidson and the NHS.

I’ve seen it all: Sass, Less, methodologies, frameworks, Tailwind and CSS-in-JS. While each of these has brought both positives and negatives, there’s one core thing that’s brought success every time: planning, communication and writing CSS that leans into the power of the language, rather than fighting it.

In this workshop, we’re going to be operating in a real-world project, featuring tricky stakeholders, suboptimal design decisions and workplace drama.

I’ll teach you not just how to deal with these tricky situations, but also, how to thrive in them! You’ll learn communication skills, planning skills, iteration skills and of course loads of CSS skills.

It’ll be a relaxed, fun workshop, which I know if you have even a mild interest in skilling up as a developer, you will love.

I can’t wait to see you there in May 2024!
